Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center is designed by Pan Tianyi, a Taiwanese architect. The main building complex of the art center is inspired by Chinese calligraphy, where the building complex is the ancient Chinese seals and it is surrounded by the "inkstone" (the park) and "ink pool" (the pond). In 2018, Pan won the gold award of "Best Planning and Design" of the National Excellent Construction Award.

The Architect combines the inkstone space with the waterfront landscape, takes the inkstone color as the keynote of the main building, extends its space through the staggered matrix, opens up the architectural gap, introduces the natural skylight, and creates the inkstone and ink pool with the Zen architectural concept, reflecting the artistic texture of the city and the cultural landscape of the pond.

The exhibition hall covers a number of spaces, including exhibition room, lecture hall, light food cultural and creative space, outdoor park, etc.

Contemporary calligraphy is not only the result of the aesthetic conflict between ancient and modern times, but also the complex state of the separation of culture and art. Calligraphy combines history, writing, literature, vision, body, concept and behavior to become the best representative of general art, provokes the contradiction between inheritance and innovation, and tests the dispute between visual value and cultural depth in contemporary society.
